New 2025 ‘The Sound of Music’ tour set launch
The beloved The Sound of Music is about to embark on a new North American tour, set to kick off in September 2025.
Producers Concord Theatricals and NETworks Presentations have announced that the tour will premiere Sept. 9 at the Kennedy-Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and will travel to more than 55 cities on multiple occasions thereafter
The program will be directed by five-time Tony Award winner and Lifetime Achievement honoree Jack O’Brien. O’Brien previously spearheaded The Sound of Music’s successful tour in 2015 and now returns with a fresh creative vision.
A new vision of art
“A few years ago I was part of a group of creative artists who almost accidentally rediscovered original concepts of The Sound of Music that never made it to the stage.” O’Brien shared “Sleeping Beauty felt like an awakening—a more dramatic, in-depth, emotional take on this classic than we’ve seen and published a well-crafted version.”.
